A panel discussion on the indigenous narratives and environment of Karnali and cinema was held. The discussion featured the participation of literary figure and writer Dr. Madhusudan Giri, literary figure Mr. Motiraj Bam, government undersecretary Mr. Om Rizal, and senior actress and director Ms. Jharna Thapa. The panel was conducted by journalist Mr. Rabindra Subedi, with the chairmanship of writer and former registrar Dr. Mahendra Kumar Mall.
The expert group expressed that, given the current situation where Nepali cinema has not yet been able to fully capture the stories and environment of Karnali, the role of local and provincial governments must be strengthened. Although the stories, art, customs, and languages of Karnali are rich and organic, there is a need to bring these hidden artistic narratives to the screen. It was suggested that there should be no delay in making films based on these indigenous stories and environments, as they have the potential to gain significant recognition. Additionally, it was emphasized that the development of tourism through cinema should be a primary responsibility of the state.
