Karnali International Film Festival 2080, Surkhet

On the 17th of Chaitra, 2080 (March 30, 2024), the Karnali Film and Tourism Conclave 2080 (Possibilities and Challenges) was successfully held at the Shubha Hotel’s conference hall in Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, with the participation of 550 attendees. The festival featured various thematic panel discussions and experience exchanges, and it was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Honorable Tilak Pariyar.

The festival was attended by federal MP Honorable Sobita Gautam, provincial MP Honorable Rajiv Bikram Shah, Honorable Ghanshyam Bhandari, Mayor of Birendranagar Municipality Mr. Mohan Maya Bhandari Dhakal, member of the Karnali Public Service Commission Honorable Basanti Shahi, Vice Chair of the Karnali Province Planning Commission Honorable Yogendra Shahi, Chairperson of Gurans Municipality Mr. Top Bahadur Bisi, Executive Chair of the Film Development Board Mr. Bhuvan KC, former Chair of the Film Producers Association Producer-Director Mr. Akash Adhikari, member of the Film Development Board Mr. Raju KC, former attorney and literary figure Mr. Dhruv Kumar Shrestha, President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Karnali Province Mr. Padam Bahadur Shahi, President of the Nepal Press Union Surkhet Mr. Lalit Basnet, writer Dr. Navaraj KC, senior artist Mr. Premdev Giri, senior dance director Mr. Kulman Nepali, film producer and hall operator Dr. Singh Gurung, former Chair of the Nepal Film Development Board Mr. Ganesh Bhandari, along with various writers, literary figures, filmmakers, school directors, journalists, intellectuals, youth students, and businesspeople.

During the festival, senior artist Mr. Premdev Giri, senior dance director Mr. Kulman Nepali, and film producer and hall operator Dr. Singh Gurung were honored for their unparalleled contributions to the arts, cinema, music, and the operation of cinema halls in the Karnali region.
