An official press conference was held on December 9, 2021, at the Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, to announce the second edition of the Karnali International Film Festival. The festival aims to promote the Nepali film industry and spread messages about film tourism and climate change in the Karnali Province to the world.

The press conference was attended by various dignitaries, including Mr. Dinesh D.C., Executive Chairman of the Film Development Board; Mr. Bhawani Rana, Chief Advisor of the festival and former President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce; Rohini Prasad Khanal, Senior Manager of the Nepal Tourism Board; senior actor Shiv Shrestha; actors Pradeep Khadka and Suraksha Pant; and festival director Chakr Bahadur Chand, along with a large number of media personnel.

During the press conference, it was announced that actor Mr. Pradeep Khadka and actress Ms. Suraksha Pant have been appointed as goodwill ambassadors for the Karnali International Film Festival.
