Kathmandu —
The 3rd Karnali International Film Festival (KIFF), held under the slogan “Let’s Travel Karnali, Let’s Watch Karnali”, has announced the launch of its “Film Story Bank” Competition. The festival, Nepal’s largest tourism-focused cultural event, aims to popularize Nepali cinema, promote Karnali’s untold stories, languages, and traditions, and position the region as a global film tourism destination.
The competition invites Nepali citizens from Nepal and abroad to submit original stories based on Karnali’s culture, history, traditions, or social realities. A total of 15 stories will be selected, with the top three receiving cash prizes of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000, and Rs. 20,000. Selected writers will also receive scriptwriting training, and their stories will be archived in the festival’s official Story Bank, accessible to national and international filmmakers.
The submission deadline is December 31, 2025, with results set to be announced on February 1, 2026. A scriptwriting workshop will be held on February 25, 2026, followed by an award ceremony on March 7, 2026.
