The program on the second day of the Second Karnali International Film Festival was grandly held in Guras Municipality, Dailekh district, in Karnali Province. The festival was organized with the aim of promoting Nepali cinema, its development, and exploring the potential of film tourism, with the Karnali region as the main focal point. On this occasion, various activities linking cinema and tourism, from the city to the village, were carried out. The event featured the participation of Ghanshyam Bhandari, the Minister for Social Development of Karnali Province, as the chief guest at the Guras Film Tourism Dialogue.
Discussions were held on the potential of developing the region’s geographical features and tourism possibilities as film shooting locations. The festival also saw the participation of special guests such as Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, popular actor Pradeep Khadka, the writer of the films Prakash and Pujar Sarky, and the director of the new film 26 Crore, which will be shot in Karnali, Vikas Subedi, along with prominent figures like municipality chairperson Top Bahadur Bisi and literary figure Dr. Mahendra Kumar Mall.
During the in-depth discussion on the potential of film tourism, actor Pradeep Khadka emphasized the importance of film production in developing film tourism in the Guras area. He expressed his commitment to advancing the mission of making Karnali globally recognized through cinema as a goodwill ambassador and highlighted the need to brand the region’s productions.
Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, stressed the need for concrete steps for film development in Karnali and its surrounding areas. He expressed confidence that such discussions would lead to significant outcomes and committed to providing necessary support from the Film Development Board.
