The Rara Film Tourism and Climate Summit aimed to establish itself as a historic platform. Its primary goal was to raise awareness about the negative impacts of climate change on Himalayan regions and fragile natural ecosystems through films and artists, and to seek preventive and adaptive solutions through diverse discussions and debates.
The summit also organized dialogue involving local municipality leaders and government bodies to develop concrete policies for promoting film tourism in biologically and naturally rich areas like Rara. The event focused significantly on climate change issues. Climate change is affecting all regions, communities, and nations globally, with Himalayan regions like Rara being particularly vulnerable. Rising temperatures, glacial melting, irregular weather patterns, and loss of biodiversity have all had severe impacts.
This summit addressed these challenges by conducting discussions dedicated to sustainable development, environmental conservation, and enhancing the adaptive capacity of local communities. It served as a platform to bring together national-level filmmakers, experts, policymakers, and environmentalists to formulate effective strategies and contribute to joint policy development to tackle the issues of film tourism and climate change.
Through the Rara Film Tourism and Climate Summit, a global message was conveyed to raise awareness about climate change, promote sustainable development, conserve biodiversity, and unite efforts to secure the planet for future generations. The summit also emphasized the collective responsibility and active participation needed to combat climate change and promote film tourism.
The discussion raised the point that the people of Karnali should demand compensation for the damages caused by climate change.
