A panel discussion on the development of cinema in Karnali and the role of the state was held. The discussion featured the participation of federal MP Honorable Binita Kadayat, Vice Chair of the Karnali Province Planning Commission Honorable Yogendra Shahi, tourism entrepreneur Megh Ale, senior actress/producer Karishma Manandhar, and writer Manoj Pandit. The panel was conducted by journalist Jeevan Parajuli, with the chairmanship of writer and former registrar Dr. Mahendra Kumar Mall.
In this panel, an in-depth discussion was held on the development of cinema in Karnali and the role of the state. It was noted that the lack of cinema development in Karnali is due to the fact that there is only one cinema hall, which has hindered cinematic activities, causing Karnali to lag behind. It was suggested that, for the development of cinema, local and provincial governments need to conduct various activities. Additionally, it was recommended that the Film Development Board should organize special programs in Karnali to highlight the region’s stories, art, language, culture, and customs.
